Sunburn tips from Dr. Brad – inside and out.

If you tend to burn easily, you might be low on natural oils in your skin. Fish oil helps protect against burns and supports healing after sun exposure.

How much oil to take? If you’re dealing with a bad sunburn, you could take three softgels three times a day—or even six at a time. But it really depends on what your body can handle. If you notice an upset stomach or loose stool, just reduce the amount.

Fish oil is great for kids too! If it’s new for them, try giving a capsule at home first to see how their tummy handles it. That way, you’ll know before a big day in the sun.

For skin care after sun:
Get calendula gel on the area as soon as you can—it helps reduce peeling and supports healing.

If it’s been a day or more:
Mix a couple of drops of tea tree oil with a teaspoon of Renew lotion (from Melaleuca) and apply it. Don't have Renew? Coconut oil works, too.

Heads up: if you’re using homeopathic remedies, essential oils like tea tree can interfere. Not sure? Ask Dr. Brad or Sue Mills, our Certified Homeopath.
