When was the last time you tried a new sport, ate at a new restaurant, discussed politics with your in-laws? It’s been quite some time, you say? Activities like these might just be one of the healthiest ways you can care for that really important organ, your brain.
Did you know that on a daily basis we encounter hundreds of viruses and thousands of bacteria? This means we don’t suddenly get the bug, instead the bug was always there inside us.
When we are healthy, our body has successfully fought off these viruses and bacteria everyday. But when we become weak enough or cold enough, our immune system begins to break down. That's when we get “the common cold”. So how can we stay healthy? Excellent question.
“Brooke! Brooke! I’ve got big bumps on my skin!” “Oh! Yep, you have acne.”
“Acne?”
“Yeah, acne. Otherwise known as pimples.”
“Pimples?! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
We all know we shouldn’t, yet still we like it and even crave it every once in awhile: that little sweet treat. But the honest truth about sugar is that just the smallest amount of it, even a few tablespoons, can overwhelm and deplete our systems. The bummer about sugar is, it’s just really hard on our bodies.
But let’s be realistic for just one moment though, the sugar will still call our names from the pantry! So when it does, here are some Dr. Brad tips to help you out.
Jack: The leaves are changing colors and falling off the trees! It must be fall!
Brooke: Dr. Brad says that fall is also a time our body gets ready for winter. In Chinese medicine this is the time of year our lungs and large intestine want to clean out before it gets cold. So, breathing deeply and cleaning out our large intestine every day is very important. That’s what he said anyway.
Jack: Did he mean going to the bathroom?
Brooke: Yeah....you get the drift.
