Summer grilling season is here! A good burger is one of my favorite things off the grill. Many don’t see a burger as a healthy meal, but I like to make mine both tasty and good for you.
First, I season my ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then mix in some chopped onion. When the patties are almost done, I melt a slice of cheese on top. Then, I add plenty of vegetables to the burger. Veggies aid in digesting the nutrients in your meal, and organic ones do the best job!
Romaine lettuce: Provides vitamin C, K, fiber, and minerals.
Red onion: Purifies our cells and has sulfur, which fights inflammation.
Avocado: Offers fiber, folic acid, and magnesium.
Tomato: Benefits our heart with lycopene.
+ A better bun: try using a toasted sourdough bun. Sourdough is often richer in vitamins and minerals, easier on your gut, and more digestible than other breads. A little ketchup and mustard, and you have a delicious summer meal!
+ And better beef: Grass-fed beef has more vitamin A, less fat, and a better omega-3 to omega-6 ratio than grain-fed meat. It also has glutathione, an essential antioxidant. Vitamin A supports your immune system, skin, and vision. Omega-3 fats reduce inflammation and are vital for muscle, cell growth, and heart health.
Enjoy your healthy and tasty burger this summer!
