Almost As Good As Mom's Milk

Ever wondered what to feed baby when it can’t be mama’s milk? Why…Dr. Brad’s handy-dandy recipe for homemade baby formula, of course! There are so many reasons why having this recipe is so, so great.

Maybe you’ll make just enough to get the sitter through an afternoon get-away? Or make a three-day batch and heat enough for a bottle at each feed? Maybe someone special will offer this in the wee hours of the night so mom can catch a few extra winks? (That would be so nice.)

*How To Make Homemade Baby Formula

What you'll need:

  • 2 cups of purified water
  • 2 teaspoons nutritional gelatin (unflavored) Great Lakes brand
  • 1 organic free range egg yolk (boil egg for 3 ½ minutes- remove yolk)
  • 2 cups organic goat’s milk
  • 2 teaspoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon purified cod liver oil (unflavored) Nordic Naturals or Carlson brands
  • ¼ teaspoon Ultrabifidus
  • 1 drop B12/Folic Acid

Directions

Add gelatin to the water, heating the water until the gelatin dissolves. Pour into a blender and add the rest of the ingredients.

Do not microwave. Heat the formula on a stove if necessary. Make sure the formula is warm to the touch (not hot!).

Refrigerate formula until used. Refrigerate for up to 3 days.

The recipe above makes about 32oz of homemade baby formula.
